Class descriptions

Power Yoga class

Beginner Power yoga: A chance for those who have never practised yoga before to learn the fundamentals of Vinyasa Yoga. We will focus on Sun Salutations, Warrior poses, seated poses, and an introduction to pairing the breath to the movement.

Intermediate Power Yoga: A dynamic yoga flow, that works on the 4 main pillars of fitness: endurance, strength, balance and flexibility. This class is derived from Vinyasa yoga and we will work on pairing the breath with our movement to feel ‘Sthiram’ and ‘Sukham’ (stability, alertness and comfort) during each pose.

Gentle Yoga

Our classic slow flow based on the movements of Vinyasa with some longer Yin holds at the end. Open up and release tension in mind and body through Asana (movement), Pranayama (Breathwork) and meditation. Perfect for those who are looking for a gentle class, active recovery or have never practised yoga before.

Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a beautiful practice and is incredible at releasing stress which can get stored in the body. We hold floor stretches for about 3-5 minutes which allows us to get into the fascia (the connective tissue) for deep relaxation and nervous system reset. We focus mainly on the connective tissue in the hips, pelvis and lower spine and this style of yoga is thought to be deeply meditative and restorative.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is described as a ‘‘yogic sleep'‘ and is a form of deep guided meditation as you lie in Savasana (corpse pose). It is a beautiful practice that is deeply restorative and very beneficial for those who are experiencing sleep deprivation, anxiety or depression.

The class will include 50 minutes of Yoga Nidra with aromatherapy followed by 10 minutes of optional journalling. Research is now suggesting that when we come out of a deep sleep state we are more susceptible to insights from the subconscious mind making this a perfect time for contemplation.
